WORKFORCE TRAINING PROGRAMS

Are you looking for a new career after being laid off from your job? Are you 55 years of age or older with limited resources and looking for workforce training? If so, we may be able to help you.

Train for a new career

Quality Career Services is a non-profit agency that provides counseling, training and placement of workers in new jobs. Funded by the Minnesota Workforce Development Fund and the U. S. Department of Labor, we've been helping people of all ages re-enter the workforce since 1985.

Workforce training

Quality Career Services is a full service career counseling agency that matches qualified employees with quality employers through two key employment training programs:

  • Dislocated Worker Program (DWP)
  • Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)

Dislocated worker retraining program

To be eligible for the DWP program, you must be:

  • Laid off through no fault of your own.
  • Eligible to receive unemployment benefits.
  • Unlikely to be able to return to previous industry or occupation.
  • Employed at least six of the previous 36 months and working at least 20 hours per week.

Retraining older workers

To be eligible for the SCSEP program, you must be:

  • At least 55 years of age.
  • Unemployed.
  • Have a family income of no more than 125 percent of the Federal poverty level.
  • Reside in Anoka, Benton, Dakota, Goodhue, Ramsey, Sherburne or Washington County.

The mission of Quality Career Services is:

  • To place each client at the highest quality job (in terms of wages, benefits, and personal satisfaction) in the shortest period of time, while treating each person with respect and dignity.
  • To provide the following quality services with a well-qualified staff using the latest technology emphasizing a one-on-one relationship in a one-stop environment:
    • Transition coping skills
    • Job seeking skills
    • Labor market information
    • Career counseling
    • Retraining
    • Job development and placement
  • To assure comprehensive communication with, outreach to, and participation of all affected dislocated workers. To continue advocating for more effective and equitable service and resources for dislocated workers in Minnesota.
  • To diligently adapt to changing job markets and dislocated worker needs.
