Job bank

Finding the perfect job that matches your career goals, interests, skills and experiences is a bit like trying to find a needle in a haystack. That's because some of the available jobs cannot be seen at the surface; they are often a part of the "hidden job market".

While many jobs can be found online or via word-of-mouth, others are harder to find.

How it works
That's why Quality Career Services manages a comprehensive job bank that can match the right opportunity to the right person. Every day we match new job leads with our list of job seekers in our growing database of more than 7,500 employers. In addition, we:

  • Make cold calls to other employers to expand our job bank.
  • Let you know right away via email or phone if we find a match.
  • Post all current job listings on our bulletin board and encourage you to come in and browse through the listings at your convenience.

Note: If you want to expand your job search or make changes to your career goals, please let us know as we welcome your feedback.

Monday morning networking meetings

You know how bewildering and intimidating a job search can be. And, how it can bring many positive and negative emotions to the fore: relief, anger, fear, depression, denial, isolation, acceptance and growth. At Quality Career Services we understand how you feel and so do the others in our networking meetings held at 10 a.m. every Monday.

Often, these negative feelings can be turned into positive ones by having a place to go where you feel supported and understood.

Gain the competitive edge
In today's competitive job market, it's also critical to know how to network effectively with employers --online and in person. Learning and honing these networking skills also sharpens your competitive edge; increasing your chances of finding the best jobs when they first become available.

During these weekly networking meetings, you'll make connections and learn how to:

  • Build your network
  • Expand your contact list
  • Talk to employers

Note: Please let us know if you would like to schedule an individual meeting with our job developers and/or career counselors.

Clerical support
Do you need to have your resume or cover letter word processed or revised? Or, do you need to use a copy machine, telephone, fax machine or computer? We provide all of these services free of charge, including Internet access.

Funding for classroom training
Quality Career Services receives funding for training, with 50 percent of our budget covering the cost of:

  • Tuition
  • Books
  • Transportation
  • Child care
  • Tools/supplies

You can also receive training dollars if:

  • You are not employable because your skills are no longer in demand
  • Your occupation/industry is being phased out

We've had success retraining people for these jobs:

  • Microcomputer support specialist
  • Computer graphics designer
  • Heating and refrigeration technician
  • Printing press operator
  • CNC machinist
  • Computer programmer
  • Human resources assistant

Short-term training

We also pay training costs for short term training programs, such as:

  • Computer applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
  • CPA Review
  • Professional certification (i.e. purchasing, HR, etc.)

Other options
If you want to explore other training, make an appointment to meet with one of our career counselors. They will work with you to develop a training plan to achieve your career goals. Also, we have an extensive library of school catalogs and career information to help you research various schools and training programs.

Adult skills enhancement program

If you're looking for educational services in a comfortable, non-threatening setting, check out this program. You'll work one-one-one with our teacher at your own pace.

We offer the following services from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the St. Paul One-Stop Center:

  • GED preparation
  • Brush up on reading, math, spelling, etc.
  • English as a Second Language
  • Keyboarding
  • Computer training

Family service referrals

Losing a job can cause emotional turmoil that our Masters-level counselors can help you with. However, if you need more assistance, we can refer you to a professional family service agency near your home. We're happy to provide you with referrals for substance abuse, mental health, marriage and family, foreclosure prevention, healthcare and other community resources.
